cmonty’s Threshold Area
For more about Christopher Montgomery’s maps, see the post for his other map, Karameikos.
After reproducing the whole nation of Karameikos in Campaign Cartographer 2, Chris set his sights on something rather different: a close-up view of the Threshold area. To do this, he referenced the map to Eltan’s Spring in Karameikos: Kingdom of Adventure, merging it with the main overview map and resolving the resulting inconsistencies.
This is the earliest shared fan-made map of the iconic Threshold area, but of course it wouldn’t be the last. What makes this one interesting is the focus on AD&D Karameikos, without reference to the other, conflicting sources. Chris provided a rather slick combination of the Eltan’s Spring map, adding Lake Windrush to the picture provided in the overview map.
Note that although this map was made for 1012 AC, there’s really nothing that sets it apart from 1000 AC Karameikos.
Fan-made Map by Christopher Montgomery (September 1998)
This is an original map created by one of Mystara’s excellent fan cartographers. For more information on the cartographer, including a gallery of all their maps, see also Appendix M: Mappers of Mystara.
The Atlas has been unable to contact the original cartographer. This map therefore appears here without explicit permission from its creator. Any information on how to get in touch with them would be most welcome.

Chronological Analysis
This is a fan-made map. It was published in September 1998. The updated Atlas version of this map is not yet available. See also Appendix C for annual chronological snapshots of the area. For the full context of this map in Mystara’s publication history, see the upcoming Let’s Map Mystara 1998. (Please note that it may be some time before the project reaches this point.)
The following lists are from the Let’s Map Mystara project. Additions are new features, introduced in this map. Revisions are changes to previously-introduced features. Hex Art & Fonts track design elements. Finally, Textual Additions are potential features found in the related text. In most cases, the Atlas adopts these textual additions into updated and chronological maps.
