LoZompatore’s Patera, 72 miles per hex
In 2015, Michele Carpita took Giovanni Paniccia’s Patera, 72 miles per hex and expanded it to create a map of the whole moon. He also substituted in Giampaolo Agosta’s Myoshima, 24 miles per hex. By neatly combining both these maps and adding more details of his own, Michele succeeded in creating a beautiful map of Patera, complete with an accompanying article describing all of his changes.
Michele also paid attention to map projection, aiming to make his map an Equirectangular Projection that could be placed on a globe. He created four such images, which I have included below the maps. To make this easier to do, he posted a borderless version of the map without labels or borders, which you can find second below.
The polar views reveal a common problem with world maps: pinching of the terrain at the poles. The hex grid makes the deforming of the map even more prominent. For this reason, it may be better to create separate maps for the polar regions.
Who knows, perhaps a future map will tackle these problems.
Fan-made Maps by Michele Carpita (October 2015)

This is an original map created by one of Mystara’s excellent fan cartographers. For more information on the cartographer, including a gallery of all their maps, see also Appendix M: Mappers of Mystara.
Views of the polar regions. The first two are the North Pole, the second the South Pole.

Chronological Analysis
This is a fan-made map. It was published in October 2015. The updated Atlas version of this map is not yet available. See also Appendix C for annual chronological snapshots of the area. For the full context of this map in Mystara’s publication history, see the upcoming Let’s Map Mystara 2015. (Please note that it may be some time before the project reaches this point.)
The following lists are from the Let’s Map Mystara project. Additions are new features, introduced in this map. Revisions are changes to previously-introduced features. Hex Art & Fonts track design elements. Finally, Textual Additions are potential features found in the related text. In most cases, the Atlas adopts these textual additions into updated and chronological maps.
