Kal’s Mystara West, 24 miles per hex
This is the western half of Andrea’s masterpiece: the Mystara world map at 24 miles per hex.
Andrea made his first post to the Mystara Mailing List announcing “Time for Maps” in February 2005. It’s not entirely clear which maps he had uploaded to his site at that point, though it seems certain that at the least they included his Brun maps. Then, in November 2006, Multizar posted at the Mystara Message Board about his world maps — which I have archived here at the Atlas. At some point between these dates, Andrea must have added his full world maps. For ease of reference, I have marked them as November 2006. If anyone has an old download of the original maps with a time stamp earlier than this, please let me know.
Regardless of the exact timing, these maps were a momentous and unprecedented achievement not only for Andrea but also for the whole Mystara community. In a later thread at The Piazza, he noted that it took him a year to create the big world map. In retrospect, this is actually rather fast! Thibault’s not-quite-complete world map at the same scale took him many years, and I haven’t even finished a world map even at 72 miles per hex — despite more than 20 years. It goes without saying, of course, that Andrea was able to work quickly thanks to Thibault’s previous efforts. Building on the foundations laid by others is a cornerstone of our community.
So it’s no exaggeration to say that Andrea’s map took the community by storm, and has been highly influential ever since.
In his post at The Piazza, he also explained that this map is set in 1010 AC. As with all of his maps, it was designed for his own campaign, so it includes some things of his own invention as well as lots of extra features from both official and fan-made sources.

Chronological Analysis
This is a fan-made map. It was published in around November 2006. The updated Atlas version of this map is not yet available. See also Appendix C for annual chronological snapshots of the area. For the full context of this map in Mystara’s publication history, see the upcoming Let’s Map Mystara 2006. (Please note that it may be some time before the project reaches this point.)
The following lists are from the Let’s Map Mystara project. Additions are new features, introduced in this map. Revisions are changes to previously-introduced features. Hex Art & Fonts track design elements. Finally, Textual Additions are potential features found in the related text. In most cases, the Atlas adopts these textual additions into updated and chronological maps.
