LoZompatore’s Alphatia, 24 miles per hex Annotated
Michele created this research map of Alphatia in 2009, posting it together with extensive notes at The Piazza.
As a base, he took the Atlas Replica maps of Alphatia and the Isle of Dawn (both from Dawn of the Emperors), and placed them together with extracts from scans of the same set’s 72 mile per hex map (top left and top right) as well as Poor Wizard’s Almanac III’s map (bottom right). The top islands are likely derived from the Master Set world map. You can also see various outlines traced from post-Wrath maps of Alphatia, after its sinking.
The annotations involve trading goods, place names, monsters, and all sorts of other things. All are keyed with numbers referring to the notes accompanying the map, and there is also a Legend at the bottom of the map with some extra details.
It’s hard to overestimate what a boon this map is to cartographers tackling Alphatia. It remains an invaluable source on the island continent to this day, a testament to Michele’s thoroughness and dedication to Mystaran mapping.
