Thibault’s Savage Coast, 8 miles per hex 1998
The Savage Coast was a favourite subject in Thibault’s early maps, and he worked on it extensively at the start of his project in 1997. This map shows the combined result of his efforts. The maps all date from early 1998, although in practice this likely means they were largely completed in 1997.
Sticking all of Bruce Heard’s Princess Ark maps of the Savage Coast together was an idea shared by many Mystara fans back then, and some people (including me!) did just that with photocopies, although of course these have been lost to the years.
Thibault was the first to place the individual maps of the Savage Coast together digitally and post them to the Internet. These maps would not be shared publicly until the next year, and even then, the computers of the time meant that adding all the maps together into one large map was not practical. Thus, my combined map below is the first time a connected version of Thibault’s Savage Coast has been posted.
The individual sections, also posted below, show a slight progression in his mapping style. It’s clear that the Orc’s Head Peninsula was created last, as it includes roads and rivers, while the rest is mostly just the base terrain.
