Brun (1987)
Considering that 1987 saw the debut of the Gazetteer series, and extensive development of individual nations as opposed to large regions, it nevertheless also included two major additions to the regional map. The first was Dungeon 6 & 7’s Great Northway Lands, a new region north of the Savage Coast. The second was not a new region, but rather the first pass at detailing an existing one: the Isle of Dawn, which had been introduced back in 1984, but only now got a proper treatment at last.
One development I have not been able to include is Dungeon 7’s clarification of the “Empire of Thyatis” label for the region of X1’s map. The errata stated that this did not mean Thyatis ruled the whole region, as had of course been clear since 1981 in X1’s descriptions of the region, but rather that it was “a generic term for the geographical area”. However, at this point there was no other name for the area, so for now “Empire of Thyatis” stands. The name “Known World” was still a few years in the future at this point.
Chronological Map (March 2022)
This map is part of the Mystara 1987 series of chronological maps. It is an updated map, incorporating all available sources and made internally consistent with other maps in its series. But it only uses sources published in or before 1987.
For more information, see Appendix C: Cartographic Chronology.

Revisions
For detailed notes, see the posts for each individual source map at the links above.
- Borders — The extents of the Empire of Thyatis have been adjusted to fit the “Quick Fix” errata from Dungeon 7.
- Regions — The Great Northway Lands from Dungeon 6 & 7 have been added along with M5’s box for the Isle of Dawn. The latter extends off the edge of the map. Empire of Thyatis has at this point been clarified not to indicate dominance of the whole region in that box; however, for lack of an alternative name for the region, and in view of the fact that the errata in Dungeon 7 also kept the label in place, I have left it as is.
