GAZ1 Threshold
GAZ1 presented the third version of the town of Threshold, and for the third time the streets and buildings were completely redrawn. It also fixed a scaling problem that had afflicted previous maps — although it seems unlikely that many people noticed this problem. And the lake finally gained a name: Lake Windrush.

Chronological Analysis
This is a town map. It was published in April 1987. The updated version of this map has not yet been released. See also Appendix C for annual chronological snapshots of the area. For the full context of this map in Mystara’s publication history, see Let’s Map Mystara 1987.
The following lists are from the Let’s Map Mystara project. Additions are new features, introduced in this map. Revisions are changes to previously-introduced features. Hex Art & Fonts track design elements. Finally, Textual Additions are potential features found in the related text. In most cases, the Atlas adopts these textual additions into updated and chronological maps.
Additions
- Lakes — The lake north of Threshold finally gets a name: Lake Windrush, to match the river.
- Rivers — As on the Karameikos, 8 mile per hex map, the Windrush River gains the River Waterolde Traladaran variant name.
Revisions
- Buildings — The building outlines in each block are different from Expert 1983’s, though much closer than B10’s blocks were.
- Streets — The streets are similar, though not identical, to Expert 1983’s streets. Some streets are missing, while other little details are new. Again, the similarity is to Expert, while GAZ1’s streets have little in common with B10’s.
Hex Art & Fonts
- Art — Gazetteer-style patterns, art, and palette.
- Fonts — Feinen throughout.
