GAZ7 Ostland, 8 miles per hex Overview
As noted in the post for the full overview map, this was an excerpt of that map with added dominion numbers. In this case, the subject was Ostland. The actual dominion names and settlements — including numerous villages not shown on the poster map — were given in the accompanying text. Together, these provided a wealth of details to add to the main Northern Reaches map. Fans later did precisely this.
Note that some printings of GAZ7 missed out all of the numbers from all this map. It seems likely that this was an issue with early printings, fixed for later printings, but this has not been confirmed.

Chronological Analysis
This is Map 94. It was published in July 1988. The updated version of this map is Northern Reaches, 8 miles per hex. See also Appendix C for annual chronological snapshots of the area. For the full context of this map in Mystara’s publication history, see Let’s Map Mystara 1988.
The following lists are from the Let’s Map Mystara project. Additions are new features, introduced in this map; Revisions are changes to previously-introduced features; Hex Art & Fonts track design elements; and finally Textual Additions are potential features found in the related text. In most cases, the Atlas adopts these textual additions into updated and chronological maps.
Additions
- Dominions — The numbers correspond to a key in the text of GAZ7. This map therefore enables the identification of Ostland’s dominions for the first time.

Hullo! I run the BECMI Berserker channel and have a quick question about this for my Northern Reaches video. The text above in relation to dominion numbers states: “…some printings of GAZ7 missed out all of the numbers from all this map. It seems likely that this was an issue with early printings, fixed for later printings, but this has not been confirmed.”
Has this been confirmed? My one is definitely missing them, but it also doesn’t have a reference to what printing it is.

My original printing doesn’t have them, but one of the PDFs (probably the current DTRPG one) does. So while I said it’s not confirmed, we do have all the evidence that it was fixed at some point. The only thing we don’t know is when.
