LoZompatore’s Blackmoor Explosion 3000 BC, 24 miles per hex
This was the last in the set of Michele’s maps that Marco Dalmonte shared to Wizards’ MMB back in October 2005. While the majority of the maps were non-hex world-level maps, such as his Mystara and Precataclysmic Mystara, this one was a hex map. It is the earliest-dated hex map that Michele has shared, although of course it may not have been the first he made.
The map is a 24 mile per hex representation of Blackmoor at the time of the Great Rain of Fire, with an overlay showing the extent and detailing the likely damage of its explosion. This fascinating analysis was likely the first of its kind to be presented in cartographic form, although it would not be the last. For Michele, it was the first of its kind, and he would go on to do similar work for other disasters, most notably the sinking of Alphatia.
