Mystaros’ Westerlands, 8 miles per hex
After a break of a few years, James posted a new map in 2003. He was working on the area of Darokin around the Malpheggi Swamp for his Westerlands campaign, set in the region.
The density of information in this map is a signature feature of James’s maps from this point on. Eschewing the sparse detail of much of the Gazetteer series, he instead packs his maps with a spectacular level of detail, with features every three or four hexes. In later years, fans would continue this trend by zooming in to larger scales such as 2.7 or even 1 mile per hex.
Fan-made Map by James Mishler (February 2003)
This is an original map created by one of Mystara’s excellent fan cartographers. For more information on the cartographer, including a gallery of all their maps, see also Appendix M: Mappers of Mystara.
