Norwold & Alphatia, 138 miles per hex (1985)

With one caveat (for which see below), I have made M1’s somewhat peculiar 138 mile per hex map consistent with the rest of the Mystara 1985 series, replacing coastlines and rivers with more detailed versions and adding in all capitals and cities that would fit. The terrain itself can’t really be made any more compatible than it already is, and frankly hexes of this scale are simply too wide a brush for it to matter.

This is an important map for 1985, as it introduced new terrain detailing to western Alphatia. However, as noted in the overview for Mystara 1985, this version of Alphatia clashes with the world map. Normally, we would adopt this map as the more correct one, since it contains far more detail. Unfortunately, it only shows part of Alphatia, making it impossible to resolve the inconsistency. That will have to wait until later years provide a full view of the island continent.

• Rivers — All rivers outside of Alphatia have been made consistent with other 1985 maps.
• Settlements — All capitals and cities that fit within the area of the map have been added.
