Serpent Peninsula, 24 miles per hex (1984)
The Serpent Peninsula made its debut in 1984’s X6, expanding to the south of the Great Waste, which had been introduced in X4.
The original name for the area shown on this map, as given in X6, is the “Wild Lands”. It includes the two areas marked with large labels on the map: the peninsula itself, and the “South Central Continent”, which is said to include all the lands in the northern part of this map: Slagovich, the Bush Country, the Barren Plain, the Sind Desert, and the Burning Waste — in other words, what X4 had called the Great Waste.
So in short, the Wild Lands means the Great Waste and the Serpent Peninsula together. CM1’s Brun map, published the same month as X6, bears this out, with separate boxes marked Great Waste and Serpent Peninsula.
All that aside, the main difference between this map and X6’s original is the appearance of the coast of Davania in the southeast. Depths have been adjusted accordingly to fit it in. This omission may have been caused by the (likely) simultaneous development of X6 and the Brun continental map (which were both published in June 1984), or it may have been a simple oversight.
Chronological Map (January 2022)
This map is part of the Mystara 1984 series of chronological maps. It is an updated map, incorporating all available sources and made internally consistent with other maps in its series. But it only uses sources published in or before 1984.
For more information, see Appendix C: Cartographic Chronology.

Revisions
For detailed notes, see the posts for each individual source map at the links above.
- Coasts — Davania’s coast has been added in the southeast corner, referencing the Brun continental map.
- Depths — X6 did not include the coast of Davania in the southeast; sea depths have been adjusted to fit it in.
