Solmyr’s Known World Political
For a short intro to Aleksei Andrievski’s maps, see the post for Solmyr’s Alphatian Region.
The last maps Aleksei shared were this map and its companion Norwold Political Map, both designed for use in PBEM games using Birthright rules. While this Known World map doesn’t suffer from the same pixellation as Norwold did, it clearly suffers from a lack of space. There’s just too much information to cram it all into the available space, which is a shame because it otherwise does a great job collecting all of this info together. In creating region names he referenced numerous fan creations, including for example the names for Wendar’s forests.
Aleksei also completely ignored the “Norwold Conundrum” — the conflict between CM1 and X11’s Norwold, and the join between Norwold and the Known World. Instead he just went with X11’s spurious version, leaving it largely blank.
Still, political maps of Mystara are not something most fan cartographers have dabbled in, even to this day — despite occasional requests from the community. As such, this map and Aleksei’s other political maps are rather interesting pieces, and they can still be of use today.
Fan-made Map by Aleksei Andrievski (August 2000)
This is an original map created by one of Mystara’s excellent fan cartographers. For more information on the cartographer, including a gallery of all their maps, see also Appendix M: Mappers of Mystara.
The Atlas has been unable to contact the original cartographer. This map therefore appears here without explicit permission from its creator. Any information on how to get in touch with them would be most welcome.
