Known World
The central region of Mystara, comprising the nations shown on the original X1 map: Alfheim, Atruaghin, the Broken Lands, Darokin, Ethengar, the Five Shires, Glantri, Ierendi, Karameikos, Minrothad, Ostland, Rockhome, Soderfjord, Thyatis, Vestland, and Ylaruam. Heldann, Sind, and Wendar are usually considered to be borderlands of the Known World, included or excluded according to preference. The term “Known World” originally referred to the planet as a whole (Master, 1985), but evolved over the course of publication and fan discussion to take on its present meaning.
