Thibault’s Isle of Dawn, 8 miles per hex v1
Thibault posted to the Mystara Mailing List in February 2000, telling of his new project to map the whole Isle of Dawn at 8 miles per hex. He placed the set of seven panels on their own page at his site, and invited others to help to develop the maps.
The section in the midwest of the map is from TM2, and is thus complete. But the rest of the map is still in the process of being converted from Dawn of the Emperors’ 24 mile per hex map. In fact, these maps give a great insight into Thibault’s conversion process: first he converted each 24 mile hex into seven 8 mile hexes, with blank (black) hexes in between. This is the stage shown on these maps. The next stages involved filling in the gaps before smoothing out terrain shapes and adding small details to suit the new scale.
It’s not entirely clear if anyone volunteered to help with development. Whatever the case may have been, Thibault revisited the area in April 2001, at which point he completed the terrain using upright hex art. He finished it off with labels and linework in September. This version is presented in its own post, but I’m mentioning it here because (strange as it may seem) the final version of this first map also stems from September 2001 — at which point it, like most of Thibault’s maps, seems to have received a palette update. In fact it may have been done much sooner than this, but the remaining files have this date.
The first two files below are composites of Thibault’s original maps. As far as I can see he never made a composite of his Isle of Dawn v1 maps himself.
Below that are the original tiles themselves, in their oldest remaining form.
For more analysis of the map itself, please see the post for the second version.

Chronological Analysis
This is a fan-made map. It was published in 2000 and revised in 2001. The updated Atlas version of this map is not yet available. See also Appendix C for annual chronological snapshots of the area. For the full context of this map in Mystara’s publication history, see the upcoming Let’s Map Mystara 2000 and 2001. (Please note that it may be some time before the project reaches this point.)
The following lists are from the Let’s Map Mystara project. Additions are new features, introduced in this map; Revisions are changes to previously-introduced features; Hex Art & Fonts track design elements; and finally Textual Additions are potential features found in the related text. In most cases, the Atlas adopts these textual additions into updated and chronological maps.
