Thibault’s Isles of Steam, 8 miles per hex
This is another of Thibault’s Grid/Hexmapper pairs of maps. The Grid version adds the Isles of Steam to his Mystara, 24 miles per hex world map, while the Hexmapper version zooms in to cover it at 8 miles per hex.
These volcanic tropical islands are all that remains of ancient Lhomarr in the modern day, in the midst of the Sea of Steam. They may be leftovers from the original island continent, or else islands that were close to it before its fall.
Thibault’s map was the first to depict the islands at this scale; when Geoff conceived them in the late 90s, they only appeared on his 72 mile per hex Cestia map. As well as detailing the isles’ terrain, Thibault also added a lot of smaller islands and reefs.
