Twolakes Vale, 1 mile per hex (1984)
CM2 presented this dominion in a rather unique style: a huge 24 mile hex broken up into a grid of 1 mile squares. The squares contained the same art usually used for hexes, which makes it look quite strange if you’re used to seeing hex maps; while a hex grid can at least give the impression of being quite random, a square grid cannot hide its stark uniformity.
There was little to add to the maps in CM2’s text, so I did not produce an updated version on my first pass through Let’s Map Mystara in 2018. However, in my 2021/2022 revision of the project, I decided to do two updates, first swapping in the project’s usual hex art for 1984, and second converting the square grid to a hex grid. Both these flavours are provided below.
There are also two versions of the map, showing the area before and during CM2’s adventure. These correspond to the Players’ and DM’s maps respectively. Those with the Miasma Swamp are chronologically later.
Chronological Map (January 2022)
This map is part of the Mystara 1984 series of chronological maps. It is an updated map, incorporating all available sources and made internally consistent with other maps in its series. But it only uses sources published in or before 1984.
For more information, see Appendix C: Cartographic Chronology.

Revisions
For detailed notes, see the posts for each individual source map at the links above.
- Font — Changed to Baskerville to match other 1984 maps. I have preserved the map title in the original Benguiat.
- Hex Art — The standard 1984 hex art has been substituted in.
- Hexes — The original map used 1 mile squares instead of hexes. I have produced two versions: one updating the art of the squares to the project’s 1984 standard art, the other converting the whole map to 1 mile hexes.
