Mark’s Known World, 8 miles per hex v2
After posting work-in-progress versions of Alfheim and Karameikos in May-June 2019, Mark then shared his new completed Known World map in September of the same year (second below). He continued to tweak it for some time afterwards, and the most recent version is from April 2020 (first below). This was the culmination of his first trials in Paint.NET. He would continue to explore other possible solutions for his mapping, including testing in Inkarnate and Wonderdraft. But in the end he was happy with Paint.NET.
As for the content of this map, Mark clearly based it on his previous versions, themselves rooted in the official sources for each nation. While his first Paint.NET map of Karameikos had walked back on a few additions, such as the relocated Kelvin and a border for the Barony of Threshold present in his Worldographer map, his edits to this map began to restore these features. The result is that this map is more complete, or at least more comprehensive.
After completing this map, and deciding to stick with Paint.NET, Mark realised that he needed to make some adjustments to his mapping system, necessitating yet another restart from scratch. For this reason, this map remains slightly unfinished, and it was soon replaced with another new version, in early 2021. He would continue to make incremental updates to that map, and it is the most polished of his Known World trail maps.
