Thibault’s Known World, 8 miles per hex v1
After working up Karameikos and Alfheim 8 mile per hex maps, Thibault expanded his focus to cover a large section of the Known World. This was his first attempt at a trail map covering more than one nation of this iconic region.
He did this in August 1999, on the cusp of one of his big art revisions. Less than a month later, on 15th September, the revised version of this map (filename kw1.gif) was the very first he released with his new technique for drawing linework, tracing lines manually in Paint Shop Pro rather than using Grid’s in-built angular line feature.
Unfortunately, the finished forms of both of these maps have since been lost. The map below is a work-in-progress of the original version with just the terrain, although I believe that Thibault also included labels in the version he posted.
The revised version, with smooth linework, was incorporated into a later version of this map, posted in February 2000. A revised version of that map will appear in its own post.

Work in progress map: This map is incomplete. It appears here in the most recent state available, but it may be missing certain elements.
