Wendar and Denagoth, 24 miles per hex (1986)
1986 saw the introduction of two new countries just north of the core Known World area: Wendar and Denagoth. However, their overlap with Norwold was highly problematic, as X11’s map had an entirely different view of the area that was completely incompatible. This issue has come to be known as the Norwold Conundrum, and it’s somewhat infamous among Mystara’s cartographers.
This map presents my solution, adopting the relevant parts of X11 (Wendar, Denagoth, and most of Heldann) and CM1 (Norwold and its immediate bordering areas) to construct a hybrid map. This is an essential milestone in the development of further maps of the area, and I can’t begin to express how happy I am to have achieved it at last.
Chronological Map (February 2022)
This map is part of the Mystara 1986 series of chronological maps. It is an updated map, incorporating all available sources and made internally consistent with other maps in its series. But it only uses sources published in or before 1986.
For more information, see Appendix C: Cartographic Chronology.

Revisions
For detailed notes, see the posts for each individual source map at the links above.
- Errors — The whole Norwold Conundrum has been sorted out in this map, combining the best points of X11’s Wendar and Denagoth with CM1’s Norwold. The border between Heldann and Norwold roughly shows the dividing line between the sources, with everything northeast of the border coming from CM1.

Love it!
I see you have reintroduced Gulluvia with respect to your previous 1986 revision that I have saved somewhere on my HD, not sure when you published it. Do I remember correctly that for 1986 you also have Haven / B3 in Karameikos, somewhere north of the Lake of Lost Dreams? Does we mean we have both B3 modules in your Known World?

Thanks!
I’ve just finished a complete revision of everything from 1981 to 1985, adding in lots of little things I missed the first time round. Some of these 1986 maps have been previewed in various places for a couple of years now, but this is the first time I’ve published the finished versions.
And yes, both versions of B3 are present. The rules of the project are such that once something is in, it remains there until something says otherwise. For Gulluvia, I suppose that means it should disappear with GAZ3 in 1987, which has the Adri Varma completely barren.
